What’s on offer?
Next Steps Ed is an alternative provision located in the heart of Nottingham city centre, our provision offers a safe, supportive and spacious environment designed to help young people thrive. We take a holistic approach to education, ensuring that every student receives not only academic support but also the care and guidance needed for their personal and social development.
We cater to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students, providing a structured curriculum delivered by qualified teachers. We offer preparation for GCSE Exams. Alongside academic learning, we offer valuable work experience opportunities to help students develop essential skills for future education, training or employment.
Our provision offers a welcoming space where students can engage in learning with the support of dedicated behavioural staff. We understand the importance of well-being, which is why we provide one hot meal every day, along with snacks and both hot and cold drinks to keep students nourished and focused throughout the day.
Physical activity is also a key part of our approach, with weekly PE sessions that encourage teamwork, fitness, and overall well-being. Our goal is to create an inclusive and nurturing environment where young people feel valued, supported and empowered to progress both academically and personally.

From July 2025 we are excited to offer access to a qualified Solution-Focused Clinical Hypnotherapist, providing weekly one-to-one sessions over eight weeks. These sessions focus on reducing anxiety, stress, anger, low self-esteem, and confidence issues, helping young people develop a more positive mindset. Through a structured approach, students will gain a deeper understanding of how the brain works and how to implement positive actions, interactions, and thought patterns to support their well-being. With CAMHS waiting lists currently around two years, research highlights the importance of early intervention. Services like hypnotherapy have been shown to help young people reintegrate into mainstream education more effectively, improving their overall engagement and well-being. Please note: This service is available at an increased day cost to the commissioner.
